What are some ideas to liven up a LONG, narrow hallway? It just seems so boring compared to the rest of my vintage/shabby chic/cozy home. Are there specific colors that work best?

First thing that comes to mind would be to add curtains at the beginning and end of the hallway, to add visual interest and allow your eye to have a stopping point. The curtains would need to be floor to ceiling length and pulled to the sides to not inhibit the walkway. On the walls between the curtains I would add a mixture or shabby chic frames and antiqued mirrors. What colors are your 2 adjacent rooms?
